Scientists for Love presents their next study of *Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive)* – an evening of experiments investigating what role the five senses play in determining attraction and compatibility between mates. This study applies groundbreaking methodologies developed by Scientists for Love’s head scientists, Leigh Kotsilidis and Amy Chartrand. Our hypothesis: when examined in isolation, the five senses make harmonized choices that reliably reflect potential compatibility. In blind experiments, the senses are asked to ‘choose’ potential mates. The results of each experiment are recorded. Sensory data is charted by our head scientists and revealed at the event. November 26, 2016 @10:00pm Scientists for Love takes on multiverses! Scientists for Love teamed up with Canadian Stage in celebration of Constellations for our biggest event ever. More than 100 participants engaged in experiments designed to explore the question: does our awareness of parallel universes have an impact on how we navigate this universe? ___________________________________________________________

____________________________________________________________

![]() Scientists for Love & Blue Met present: SWEET NOTHINGS: READINGS FOR ONE Saturday, May 3, 2014 @ 11:00am - 3:00pm
Occupying a Suite at Hotel 10, Scientists for Love is field-testing a new form of literary reading. In an experiment that investigates sharing literature as a source of human connection, in the solitude of a hotel room, participants will experience private readings from Blue Met poets over the phone.* Readings offered in French or English. PROGRAM A: 11:00AM – 12:00PM (FR) PROGRAM B: 1:00PM – 3:00PM (EN) This event is FREE. To reserve your private reading, please write to scientistsforlove[at]gmail.com with name and availability for program A (French) or B (English). Participants will receive an email confirming their 15-minute reading time. *Given how a public reading can serve to connect authors and their audiences, in Sweet Nothings: Readings for One Scientists for Love asks how altering the ‘form’ of the literary reading can impact the type of connection experienced. What changes when a reading is private? When the audience and reader are present but unseen by each other? When the author tailors his or her reading to an individual? When the audience offers something personal to the experience? www.bluemetropolis.org https://www.facebook.com/events/1445768845669143/ ____________________________________________________________
![]() EVENT: Scientists for Love 5 à 8 Following our inaugural Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive), some participants requested a follow-up event. Wonderful idea! In the spirit of keeping in touch and facilitating more (and more) connections, please join us for a 5 à 8 on Thursday, March 6th at Cheval Blanc, 809 Rue Ontario Est (Metro Berri-UQAM).

![]() CONDENSED STUDY: Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive) *NEW* - Condensed by popular demand: ALL FIVE SENSE EXPERIMENTS IN ONE NIGHT!
Have you ever been drawn to the scent of a stranger’s ‘musk’? Does the sound of their voice drive you mad with desire? Why do some touches feel ‘electric’? Can the senses determine compatibility? Join us February 1st to find out! *Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive)* is an evening of experiments investigating the ability of the senses to determine attraction and compatibility between mates. This study will apply groundbreaking methodologies developed by Scientists for Love’s head scientists, Leigh Kotsilidis and Amy Chartrand. In blind experiments, the senses will be asked to ‘choose’ potential mates. Our hypothesis is that when examined in isolation, the five senses will make harmonized choices that reliably reflect potential compatibility. The results of each experiment will be recorded and analyzed by our head scientists, with full compatibility analysis to be revealed at the event. Sense Experiments: HEARING SMELL TOUCH SIGHT TASTE TO PARTICIPATE write to us at scientistsforlove [at] gmail.com. * The target age range for this experiment is 25 – 40. However, we also welcome participants outside this age range who are interested in connecting with people within this age range. * This event is designed for participants seeking heterosexual connections. Please note, Queer series to follow in Spring 2014. * Cost: $30 for including a drink. Financial aid is available. Please share this event with any friends you love!

The focus at all Scientists for Love experiments is on creating an atmosphere that is open, generous, accepting, encouraging, and fun. FIELD STUDY #1
I HEAR YOU AND I LOVE YOU!
Longing for some “sweet nothings?” Take a listen! These audio samples are from a *Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive)* Field Study conducted in early January. The field study is designed to demonstrate that attraction can be ignited by even the smallest bit of sensory information, such as the sound of someone’s voice. You, the listener, has no idea of the readers’ age, what they look like, what they do for a living, and yet, is there something in one of these voices that draws you in, elicits curiosity and perhaps… attraction? At the Scientists for Love *Speed-dating for the Senses (and the sensitive)* study, we will conduct experiments based on the five senses to determine who in the group your senses might be drawn to. Join us Saturday, February 1st to find what happens if you let your senses take the lead! https://www.facebook.com/events/766086280072443/?ref_newsfeed_story_ Thank you to everyone who contributed their voice to the Field Study. There were so many lovable voices we cannot post them all. They are catalogued in the Scientists for Love vault for further scientific exploration. The text read for the field study is an excerpt from the poem “At North Farm” by John Ashbery. ____________________________________________________________
